Managed by Voyages Hotels and Resorts, Lizard Island (also known as Jiigurru) is located 240 km north of Cairns and 27 km off the coast of northern Queensland in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef. The Island is the most northern island resort in Australia.
Named after the likable and harmless monitor lizard (or sand goanna), the Island hosted its first guest, Captain James Cook, in 1770. A resort of 40 rooms for only 80 guests at any one time with a rocky peak fringed with coral reefs and 24 soft powdery white beaches, Lizard Island offers the freedom to enjoy the good things of life without compromises, without restriction.
